 Secor
Lumber Co., Inc. was founded in 1939 in rural
Savannah, New York by builder Ray Secor and his wife
Hazel. Like many
yards of that time, coal and feed were among the
products distributed.
Joined by
sons Edwin and Harold Secor, the company also operated a
successful construction business which prospered in the
post WWII housing era.
Many Secor-built
homes can be found in surrounding upstate and central New York
communities.
While the
construction business prospered, the supply side also
continued to grow. As emphasis shifted from contracting
to supply, homes built in the early 1970's marked the close
of the construction side of the business.
 The
Tradition Continues
This
third generation company continues to evolve as one
of the oldest and most trusted building supply companies
in Wayne County and the Finger Lakes region of upstate
New York today. Owners Brian and David Secor now operate
the business as three locations. These locations cover a
mix of lumber yard, cabinetry showrooms, window & door
showrooms, and floor covering showrooms. Each location
also features a full line, full service hardware store
complete with tool rental department and project
planning services.
The
establishment of Secor's Home & Hardware division in
1999 expanded the convenience of doing business with the
companies friendly and knowledgeable staff to a broader
range of patrons from within and around the Fingerlakes
communities of Savannah, Ontario, and Newark. In
addition to home & hardware products, these stores offer
convenient access to the building supplies and the
Building Solutions Group of Secor Lumber, Savannah. This
makes the staff of each store 'Your hometown project
partners.'
The company
pride's itself on being a good fit when attracting and
hiring other store owners and store managers who find
reward in putting forth an exceptional customer service
experience. Because of this, Secor staff maintain a
strong approval rating from customers located throughout
Central and Western New York. These customers include
homeowners, contractors, commercial/industrial and
agri-business accounts.
Adding to strong supply fundamentals, the Secor Building
Solutions group maintains in depth construction
knowledge and experience and is available to consult
Secor customers on projects such as new homes,
additions, remodeling, garages, horse barns, storage
buildings, commercial facilities, and more.
